I guess it was probably 1992 or 1993 when I saw my first homemade sex tape. I had been trading nude photos of my girl by mail with a guy – that’s how we did it back in the day – when he asked if I had any videos. I only wished I did! But he suggested that next time, in exchange for my photos, he would send me a video. And it was this attractive brunette – a real girl next door – fucking and sucking another guy while her old man videotaped, right there in their living room. I had never seen anything like it. By 1994, I wanted to see more of these videos. A lot more. If this woman was willing, surely there must be others. But how the hell was I going to get them? I don’t even know where the idea came from, but I decided to start a little newsletter that would review amateur videos submitted by women who were interested in selling them. It turns out there was a little cottage industry out there, husbands and wives, boyfriends and girlfriends, who would make a tape – on VHS, mind you – then make copies to sell by mail to guys around the country. Before I knew it, I had women from all over the US sending me their homemade porn videos. I thought I had died and gone to Heaven!

That little newsletter was Homemade Hot Shots, which eventually grew to 36 pages and went out in a plain brown wrapper to more than 5000 subscribers around the country. And when I started to include photo spreads of local nude dancers, one of them asked why we didn’t make a video of our own and sell it, like all the women in Homemade Hot Shots. She was willing to do it for free in exchange for half the profits. That was Chardonnay – the foxy dark eyed beauty who got me into the amateur movie making business!
With the growth of the internet, a printed magazine that only came out once a month didn’t quite have the appeal that it did in the pre-Web days. Plus, the expense and labor involved with creating it, printing it, stuffing it into envelopes and sorting it for the best postage rate was a real hassle. So in 1999, after 5 years in print, I closed down Homemade Hot Shots and opened my online amateur video store at HomeSexTapes.com.
Now, 10 years after the magazine published its final issue, I’ve decided to revive it as an online blog. Like the printed version, I’ll be reviewing amateur videos. Only now I’ll be able to do more than just tell you about them. I can show them to you! I’ll also have photo spreads of amateurs, pictures taken of local girls by me, plus pictures submitted by amateurs around the country. I’ll be updating it several times each week so there will always be something new when you visit.
After all these years, you’d think I’d be sick of homemade videos by now. Yeah, right! And I’m sick of pizza, sick of beer, sick of football, and sick of sex. Not! Long live amateur porn!
